A formal letter for IELTS talking about your work experience.
You have seen an advertisement in an Australian magazine for someone to five with a family for six months and look after their six-year-old child. Write a letter to the parents.
In your letter:
‣ explain why you would like the job
‣ give details of why you would be a suitable person to employ
‣ say how you would spend your free time while you are in Australia.
Dear John and Doe,
I am writing to express my interest in the live-in childcare position that was advertised in Australian Parenting. I am excited about the opportunity to spend six months with your family and care for your six-year-old child.
I have experience working with children, as I have previously worked as a nanny for a family with two young children. I am responsible, reliable, and have a genuine love for working with children. I am also a native English speaker, which would make communication with your child easy.
In my free time, I would like to explore Australia and experience its unique culture. I am particularly interested in visiting the Great Barrier Reef, the Sydney Opera House, and the Australian Outback. I also enjoy hiking and would like to take advantage of the beautiful Australian landscape.
Thank you for considering my application. I look forward to the opportunity to discuss this position further with you.
Sincerely,
These expressions while seemingly simple add a lot to your score since they take care of multiple aspects that are listed in the IELTS band descriptor as essential to scoring a Band 8+ in IELTS.
