Sample Response

Dear John and Doe,

I am writing to express my interest in the live-in childcare position that was advertised in Australian Parenting. I am excited about the opportunity to spend six months with your family and care for your six-year-old child.

I have experience working with children, as I have previously worked as a nanny for a family with two young children. I am responsible, reliable, and have a genuine love for working with children. I am also a native English speaker, which would make communication with your child easy.

In my free time, I would like to explore Australia and experience its unique culture. I am particularly interested in visiting the Great Barrier Reef, the Sydney Opera House, and the Australian Outback. I also enjoy hiking and would like to take advantage of the beautiful Australian landscape.

Thank you for considering my application. I look forward to the opportunity to discuss this position further with you.

Sincerely,

Points and Expressions to Note

  2. I have a genuine love - tone, tells the parents that you are really interested
  3. Australian Outback - Lexical resource - it is a commonly associated collocation with Australia
  4. I look forward to discuss this position - Opening a channel of communication - Indicating that you are interested - This is a good closing line. Will help with CC and TA (Tone)

These expressions while seemingly simple add a lot to your score since they take care of multiple aspects that are listed in the IELTS band descriptor as essential to scoring a Band 8+ in IELTS.
