2023 Expected IELTS Writing Question #1

Jan 26 2023

Some believe studying in a developed country is the best way to attain a well-paid job. Others feel there are other better options. Discuss both views and give your own opinion.

Here is a Band 9 Sample Answer for the IELTS 2023 expected question on studying in a developed country

There are many pros and cons to studying in a developed country. On the one hand, you have access to some of the best educational institutions in the world. On the other hand, the cost of living can be very high, and you may not be able to find a job once you graduate.

For some, however, studying abroad is a great way to gain the skills and experience that you need for a high-paying job. You'll be surrounded by other ambitious students and be taught by experts in the field. This can provide you with a great opportunity to network and eventually find a high-paying job at one of the major firms here.

The main issue for me is culture. One is surrounded by people who've been raised in that country, so it'll be difficult to have an authentic experience. It will be difficult to both study and immerse oneself and absorb a new culture. Also one's skills should be an asset to their home country, and one can make a bigger difference there.

Another option is to study in another developing country where the cost of living is lower, or if your marketable skills are in demand in a particular country, then you should probably study there, rather than worry about whether the country is developed or otherwise.

In my opinion, the most important thing is to study what you’re passionate about. Because of the simple reason that being passionate is the one of the best keys to success.

The essay is exceptionally well presented. The writer demonstrates the correct use of the personal pronoun, and presents personal views and contrasts them with views in general very well. The use of connetives is clean and seamlessly done. In addition, the use of words and phrases is native-user-like resulting in a full score in LR.
